J.O. Kelly Middle School (Springdale School District) – Success Story

J.O. Kelly Middle school utilized ISEP funds to purchase resources for cooking classes (cutting mats, knives), materials/resources for gardening, including a compost bin and tumbler, as well as nutrition education resources and materials.

Cooking classes, Garden Clubs and food packaging information provided Students with a new excitement, curiosity and awareness of food ingredients, food production, and food preparation.  Students promoted a healthy and local fruit and/or vegetable once a month in the cafeteria, as well as providing taste tests for new items, such as smoothies and coconut milk.
