Nemo Vista Elementary School – Success Story

The Nemo Vista elementary school utilized ISEP grant finds to purchase the “Drum Alive” program. The Drum Alive program utilizes exercise balls and drumsticks and blends it with movement and music.

Students worked with the music teacher and classroom teachers to learn a routine. The routine was packed with movements that extended from the floor to reaching for the ceiling providing a complete workout.

The program success was measured based on the Presidential Fitness Assessment. Out of 23 students in one class, for the pretest, 3 students were able to pass the fitness test. At the end of the Drum Alive program, 8 students received the Presidential Fitness Award, which was 35% of the class.
